Day Twenty Nine

My husband is training for a marathon and was heading out the door this morning for a 14 mile run (yes, I do believe he's insane! Actually, I envy him). He wanted a little bit of smoothie before his run, so I whipped this up for him before he took off. I have to admit, its pretty yummy : )
  • 2 cups water
  • ~ 1/3 lb frozen blackberries
  • 1 granny smith apple cored and chopped
  • 1 banana
  • 4 kale leaves
  • 3 big handfuls spinach
  • juice of one lemon (~ 1/4 cup)
  • small piece of lemon rind
  • squirt of agave
  • ICE!!



  1. Kale is a tough taste to hide... could you taste it? I'll have to try this one.

    I was thinking the other day and meant to write to you... if your kids are rejecting some of the smoothies, have you considered making them into fruit leathers? My kids reject some smoothies as well, but if I dehydrate them, they're all over it. Just an idea. :)

  2. Hi there, I just discovered your blog a few days ago, I found it inspiring. Since the night I found it I have had a green smoothie each day. This is my day 3. I just tried adding a kale leaf to my smoothie this morning. It certainly does have a stronger flavor, the spinach I can hardly taste at all.
