- about 2 cups of fresh blueberries
- 2-3 handsfuls of spinach
- 1 banana
- handful of frozen pineapple
- water
Its very good. My kids won't even try it. I think they OD'd on carbs this weekend. We'll fix that this week.
My adventure into healthier eating through the miracle of blenders & raw food.

I really enjoyed this one. The subtle hint of pineapple was very refreshing!
Upon the first sip it was actually quite tasty. However, after several large sips the back of my throat was on FIRE! I've never tasted anything so peppery. I couldn't even finish it. I dumped it out. Thankfully I had enough leftover smoothie in my fridge that I was still able to eek out a full quart for today. So yes, every once in a while, I do make a dud of a smoothie!
And if I had made this, I'm sure it would have tasted fabulous. A little greener than normal, but fabulous ; )
My husband and our youngest loved it. The oldest and I? Hated it. I'm off to make myself something else. I'm making extra so it will also be tomorrow's smoothie.
Its good. Not very creative, but good. I am sssooo ready to start experimenting with fresh produce this summer. Come ON Spring!
YUM! It was like a cherry limeade. Delish! I brought enough to share to chess club and my friend's son downed a whole one and then asked for seconds (and thrids) :)
Viola! Done. I can. not. wait. for summer produce to start showing up. I'm getting sick of frozen fruit!
Number two smoothie was not green, and it was a bit of an experiment. I loved it. It kept me full and satisified for hours.
*Yes, I said egg yolk. I, personally, wouldn't do this with average store bought eggs. Most of the micronutrients are lost in those. I use organic, cage free, free range. I'm looking for a local source of eggs from pasture fed chickens. This smoothie was AWESOME! It was super creamy and so yummy!!
Not sickeningly sweet, a little green tasting and exactly what I was craving this morning! Enjoy!
Its pretty thick. If I were to make this again I'd probably add another cup of water. I like my smoothies a little less frothy and a little more liquidy. But that's just a personal preference. Enjoy!!
I'm not a fan of seeds. In fact, I rarely use blackberries or raspberries because I find them so offensive. However, they pack quite beneficial punch. They offer a great source of fiber and they cling to, and rid our bodies of, some of the toxins trapped in the lower intestine and colon. So grab your straws and get ready for some detoxin'! Enjoy!
Its delicious! I made a full blenderful this morning so I can have extra throughout the day. I'm off to the pool for a workout and I love smoothies as an after workout treat. Enjoy!
I found coconut oil in a spray can (think PAM) at the health food store last week when I went in to pick up our raw milk. I'm finding its easier to incorporate into our smoothies in this form. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the health benefits counteract the carcinogens in the propellents. LOL! (I'm kidding.....sort of.)
It was pretty good. Not a very strong flavor from any of the fruits, but they all blended nicely together. Enjoy!
It tasted like a strawberry milkshake and they both slurped it down happily. The raw milk is something fairly new to my family. I will elaborate a bit more soon. But I wanted something with some fat and protein to keep my kids strong to fight off these nasty bugs.
I was out of OJ and I wanted something that I knew I'd enjoy. I'll get a little more adventerous again later this week.
Its tart, but very very good. My husband hasn't tried it yet, I'm not sure if he'll like it or not. He's not a fan of cherries.
It was yummy, but for some reason did not come out very smooth. My inlaws liked it, but both my husband and I were a little put off by the grittiness. I think I just didn't let it go long enough in my vitamix. I dunno.
Smoothie Two:
This is an old standby for my kids and I knew they'd drink it. They loved it and both had seconds.
It was ok. I'm just not a fan of the coconut oil. But I contintue to use it because I know its healthy. Like the last one, it tasted better after it had been in the fridge for a while. I'll check back in later this afternoon!
It was delish and I just finished the last of it about 10 minutes ago. YUM!
Yum. Its actually got a very mild flavor. I couldn't even taste the pineapple. Go figure.
Let 'er rip!
*frozen mixed fruit from Walmart contains red grapes, pineapple, peaches & strawberries.
That's it. Its their favorite combination. I like it, too. And mine isn't still sitting on the table. Its sitting in my tummy. Where it makes me happy.
Let 'er rip. I love blueberries and bananas together. YUM.
